What do you use for De-Painting?

We have found the new generation environmentally advantaged Hydrogen Peroxide based chemical strippers to be far superior to the Methylene Chloride based products of old for permeating the paint film right down to the alloy without drying out prematurely. But in saying that some Aircraft will require another one, or on the rare occasion two coats to achieve the desired result.

After firstly masking all transparencies with alloy tape and alloy foil (price a new set of windows and install costs = how much are is taken with this stage) all points of access into the airframe, lapjoints and seams that allow entry must be masked off. Once completed and signed off the stripper is spray applied approximately 1xLt will cover 1.35 sq mts.

We like to make sure it’s on the plane not the walls. After a suitable dwell time, usually overnight, however can take longer in lower temps, it’s time to remove it with high pressure water. What a lot of fun? Not, but perseverance in this process pays off and we should be left with an all but clean skin, a slight primer haze is usually evident and will easily remove with scotchbrites at a later stage.

All Products used in our process are Aviation and CASA Approved.
